Profile
He was born in 1958.
He received his master's degree in architectural engineering at Kogakuin University in Tokyo.
While he was at Kogakuin University, he studied under Professor ITO Teiji. There, he learned about the relation between "Light" and architecture and was interested in it. So, he entered the field of lighting design from architectural design.
So far, he has been designing "Light" as a specialized "architectural lighting" designer in a wide range from the external lighting of ultra-high-rise buildings and the lighting of office space to the lighting of eating and drinking space like restaurants and bars. In addition, he has been actively tackling the lighting in urban spaces such as the new seaside city center in Tokyo and the Kohoku new town in Yokohama.
œ 1984-1990
While he was with Yamagiwa laboratory, he studied and worked under Mr. NAKAJIMA Tatsuoki and Mr. MENDE Kaoru. There, he mastered the fundamentals of lighting technologies and accumulated actual experiences in the field. During this period, he worked as an lighting consultant for architects like Mr. MAKI Fumihiko, Mr. ITO Toyo, Mr. UCHII Shozo, and HARA Hiroshi.
œ 1990
Together with Mr. MENDE Kaoru and other members, he joined the establishment of "Lighting Planners Associates Inc." and assumed director. In the same year, he studied at the office of Fisher and Marantz under Mr. Paul Marantz who is a lighting designer representing the field of lighting in the USA and mastered the inner most secrets of architectural lighting. Since then he has been working for many kinds of architectural lighting with Mr. MENDE Kaoru as his right hand man.

LIGHTDESIGN INC. was established in Ginza, Tokyo.
Contract of collaborative work was conclude with SM Lighting Design INC in the USA.
